Nearly five years into its voyage, The Waterman Fish Bar remains one of the city’s most trusted seafood brands. Sharing the same DNA as Uptown spot Sea Level NC, The Waterman prides itself on exclusively serving domestic products (Canadian Salmon aside), focusing on the Carolinas. 

That’s not to say the menu isn’t varied though. In fact, the opposite is true. Our menu features quite a bit of NOLA inspiration in dishes like the Seafood Gumbo, Blackened Seafood Platter, and NC Trout with Creole gravy. The Salmon Entree and Maine Lobster Roll are satisfying choices for those looking for something more traditional. No matter the dish, Guests can rest assured, the product is responsibly sourced.

A commitment to quality at this level isn’t always easy, but it’s paid off for the team. In fact, The Waterman launched its second location in Cornelius in April 2022, minutes from Lake Norman. Like its South End counterpart, the LKN location beckons Guests to dine in a casual atmosphere sprinkled with nautical artifacts. While staying true to the brand, the team has found subtle ways to differentiate the restaurant with a new ‘Waterman’ mural, 360 indoor/outdoor bar, and daily oyster features. 

Whether it’s lunch or dinner, down South or up North, The Waterman offers safe harbor from life's daily hustle and bustle. A boat drink in hand doesn’t hurt either.
